Meeting with Manager

Like I mentioned in our last post we had a meeting with a gentleman who manages several DC local artist. The meeting over all was fairly productive but we are not overly excited about what could happen in this potential business relationship.  We're still working out what our brand is and what direction we want to move towards and appeared that he was at the same point.  This is a good thing and a not so great thing.

The good thing is that the expectations of the other side are fairly predictable because there is not much to expect from a start-up as far as contacts, experience, and general knowledge of a particular industry.

The not so great thing is that when you go into any business relationship you typically want to work with someone who is more experienced and more grounded in an industry you yourself are attempting to break into.  Those types of relationships are difficult to establish because the first question they will ask is. "So what can you do for me?"

It would appear that the best way to approach this relationship would be to have a realistic but motivated expectation of the relationship you're starting and want to maintain.  I like to give everyone a second chance so the next time we meet with this same gentleman we will be sure to keep our ears and eyes open.
