We mentioned in a our last couple of blogs about a meet-up group we recently joined called "Production and Music Connection." Last night was the first meetup with this group and it was an all around great experience. In fact, I don't think it could have went any better. I met several extremely talented artist and production professionals and received some really great feedback on our work.
Last nights meet-up, a Jam Session, was where each member had 5-8 minutes to showcase their work. Some sung and played live instruments (most impressive) and others played pre-recorded vocal tracks that blew me away. It was a diverse and unique group of musical genres that made the experience all the more enjoyable. I applaud Breasia Studio for taking the time and energy to give artist a forum to showcase their talent. I won't mention any names but the talent last night was inspiring and at times gave me chills. From the sound engineer to the meet-up coordinator this was a complete success!
One of the gentlemen who attended heard one of our sample tracks during our showcase and was instantaneously inspired. When it was his turn to showcase his work, directly after his pre-recorded track ended, he grabbed the nearest mic and jumped on two of ours with an incredible *freestyle. We have attached a video clip of the freestyle for your listening pleasure. The first track is titled "Not Guilty" which is a theatrical song. The second track is a Hip-Hop song titled "Say Goodbye." The digital instrumental is a music production of BSMG, but the lyrics were created by this artist on the spot. (This video was shot on an iPhone4 so please forgive the audio & video quality.)
*For those of you that are not Hip-Hop inclined a Freestyle, is commonly referred as rap lyrics which are improvised through acapella or with instrumental beats, i.e. performed with no previously composed lyrics, or "off the top of the head"
