It's partly cloudy on a Sunday afternoon in Northern, VA. Yesterday I attended my first One-to-One training at a local Apple store. The training is available for all types of applications for beginners and the pro's. I've been using Logic Express to compose music for the past 6 months or so but I know there is a lot that I don't know. I have the create side pretty well locked which my mind nearly never shuts off. It's the technical terms and functionality of Logic that I have still yet to master. I spent an hour with a certified trainer in Logic and had my questions prepared with my notepad and pen to take notes. Over all I found it really helpful and informative. I figure it's as informative as you want it to be based on your preparation of the training. I learned what Quantization and Automation is and have a much better understanding of how to record vocals on the studio level.
You can buy the One-to-One training via Apple when you purchase a computer. The only catch is you must purchase the training when you buy the computer. I don't ever recall this being advertised but apparently I was out of the loop. The cost is $100 and it covers every application that Apple offers. I didn't purchase the training session when I first bought a computer but felt it was worth asking if I could now based on the nearly 10k I've spent on apple products over the past 4-5 years. I spoke to the manager of the store and expressed my disappointment of how the training is promoted and the limited options available to purchase. He called me back 2 days later and told me to come by the store to purchase it. The lesson in this is to be prepared and never be afraid to ask what you reasonably feel you deserve. The worst someone can say is no.
